TriAlpha first developed its Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment credentials by partnering with Dr Mathews Phosa in 2015 as a fellow stakeholder in TriAlpha, resulting in more than a quarter black ownership. Dr Phosa’s involvement with TriAlpha continued until 2019 when TriAlpha entered into a new transaction as part of its transformation path to its current Level 1 B-BBEE contributor status. 

TriAlpha proceeded to buy back Dr Phosa’s shares in anticipation of TriAlpha Empowerment Proprietary Limited’s 2019 equity participation arrangement with African Rainbow Capital Financial Services, chaired by Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The final evolutionary step in TriAlpha’s journey towards becoming a 100% Black owned and controlled South African manager was brought about in 2020, when the founding management team members sold the balance of their holdings to TriAlpha’s own Black Employee Share Ownership Plan (“ESOP”) in a landmark B-BBEE deal worth more than half-a-billion Rand.  In addition to its Black ownership, TriAlpha boasts more than 50% Black employees and 60% Black senior management.

TriAlpha has been awarded a Level 1 contributor status in terms of the Amended Financial Sector Code. Moreover the team shares the conviction that the financial services industry has a vital role to play in the allocation of funds to investments that generate attractive returns while serving society. Conversely we know that through innovative products TriAlpha can help create solutions for the environmental and societal challenges of today.
